Previous Grant Awards

Community Welfare Trust 2022/23

The Community Welfare Trust funded community groups to assist in the:

  • Prevention of the relief of poverty.
  • Relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
  • Advancement of health (including the advancement of education in health).

It was also available to provide support to individuals in need who met the fund’s criteria.

Applications were open April 2022 – March 2023 or until available funds were spent. A total of £16,998.06 was awarded to 11 groups and £561 to two individuals. The awards were awarded as follows:

Berwickshire

  • Borders Pottery Limited was awarded £2,023 for pottery classes (venue hire and materials)
  • Duns Mens Shed was awarded £1183.99 for new tools and accessories (mitre saw, bench)
  • Eyemouth Fisherman's Choir was awarded £800 to help cover the venue rental costs
  • May Kinghorn Group was awarded £81 for monthly dances costs (venue hire, catering)

Cheviot

Jedburgh Gentle Exercise Class was awarded 1.3k for free monthly classes for older adults

Eildon

  • Lauder Larder was awarded £1151.26 for Christmas hampers for families in need
  • Philiphaugh Bingo Group was awarded £780 for preventing isolation (venue rent costs, bingo books)
  • Selkirk Foodbank was awarded £2438.90 for basic cookery classes (hall hire, utensils, ingredients)

Tweeddale

Hanover Housing Scotland was awarded £600 for a lounge room for residents (sofa, armchair, TV, DVD)

Borders Wide

  • Border Carers was awarded £1917.52 for support for lunch sessions groups in all localities
  • Recovery Coaching Scotland was awarded £4422.39 for a Community Developer  salary, diets and venue hire in Teviot & Liddesdale and Tweeddale
