Our achievements to date
Our achievements to date include:
- The roll out of LED street lighting, which has reduced energy use, maintenance requirements and light pollution
- Delivery of an energy efficient programme across our property estate through, for example, building improvements, use of low energy lighting, biomass heating, solar panel installation
- The ongoing transition of our fleet to low emission vehicles
- The establishment of a pool car fleet of electric vehicles
- Significant reduction in business travel mileage
- Reduced grass cutting in low amenity areas and the planting of wildflowers as part of a pilot scheme to support biodiversity and pollinators.
- A huge reduction in the household waste sent to landfill and associated increase in recycling rates
- Installation of electric vehicle charging points across the region
- The development of a Sustainable Procurement Charter
- A significant reduction in printing and associated paper use which has saved over 38 tonnes of CO2
