Berwickshire Neighbourhood Support Fund

The Berwickshire Neighbourhood Support Fund 2023/24 is open, with £14,384.00 remaining, for local community projects, activities, and one-off events. The fund provides support and assistance with the development of community-based projects and activities for voluntary and community groups that are active in their local area.

Please note the closing date for Round 2 of the Neighbourhood Support Fund will be Thursday 30th November.

Groups who wish to take forward projects that are of benefit to the local community can apply for grants up to the value of £5k. Funding can be used for a variety of purposes such as:

  • the purchase of equipment
  • small capital works
  • hire and running costs
  • maintenance costs
  • capacity building projects
  • some salary costs specific to projects


All applications will be evaluated by an assessment panel which will then make its funding recommendations to the Berwickshire Area Partnership meeting.  Application forms are available

Please make sure you read the guidance notes  for information on who is eligible to apply and the assessment sheet to make sure you provide the assessment panel with all the information required, with any supporting documents requested.

Funded Projects 2023/24

  • Abundant Borders were awarded £913.00 for additional, portable sustainable grass cutting equipment for garden maintenance in Duns, Eyemouth, Foulden and Ayton and to maintain primary school beds at Cockburnspath.
  • ReTweed were awarded £4,941.00 for their Community Courses at Gavinton, Cranshaws and Coldstream.
  • Foulden, Mordington & Lamberton CC were awarded £2,100.00 their Automated External Defibrillator (AED) project for the Adopted phone box in Lamberton.
  • Leitholm, Eccles & Birgham Community Council  were awarded £2,664.00 for their Connecting Leitholm project.
  • Eyemouth Harbour Trust were awarded £5,000.00 for their Sea Garden & Art Wall project.
  • Swinton and Ladykirk Community Council  were awarded £400.00 for Spring bulb planting & refurbishment of football goals on the Green.
  • Allanbank Arts (A Heart for Duns) were awarded £2,250.00 for their Creative Club project.
  • Berwickshire Swap were awarded £3,132.00 for storage, shelving and laundering equipment at their new premises.
  • Cockburnspath After School Club were awarded £5,000.00 for the development of the Cockburnspath After School Club.
  • Eyemouth Museum Trust Ltd were awarded £5,000.00 for repainting and maintenance of Eyemouth Museum’s historic windows.
  • Paxton House Trust were awarded £4,401.00 for their Community Garden project.
