Technology enabled care

Sensor devices and pagers

Bed/chair sensors

Our bed/chair sensors are pressure sensors (pads) that detect when an individual leaves their bed. We can define specific monitoring times and add an absence period if required e.g. to allow for bathroom visits etc.

Our Alarm Monitoring Centre will be alerted when an unexpected absence from a bed or chair is detected.

The pads can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth or disinfectant wipes.

Door sensors

Our door sensors will send an alert when a door is opened and can be set with specific monitoring times e.g. through the night. These are particularly useful in Dementia/Alzheimer cases where there are safety concerns that a person may leave a property inappropriately.

Upon activation, the Alarm Monitoring Centre would be alerted and help summoned to check on the safety of the client.

Activity sensors

Activity sensors are a preventative assessment tool that will help to understand the client’s activity at home. The sensors can be placed around the home to gather information on their movement. This data can be used to establish a client’s routines and allow the development of a comprehensive care plan.

They are easy to install and do not require a phone line or broadband. The sensors will log the information which can then be accessed via a secure portal.

Other sensors

  • Bogus caller button - fitted at a client’s main door, it can be pressed if they have concerns or suspicions over anyone coming to their door.
  • Epilepsy sensor – will summon help in the event of a seizure.
  • Flood detector - can be placed under a sink or near baths to detect early signs of flooding e.g. taps left running.
  • Ambient sensor - monitors room temperature for unexpected changes within the home. Upper and lower limits can be set and will alert if reached. This can be useful if someone is reluctant to put on heating (the environment is too cold) or has the heating set too high.
  • Bespoke solutions - pillow switches, body-operated switches, etc.

Local alert/pager solutions

Sometimes, activation of a sensor does not need to go to the Alarm Monitoring Centre and is only required to alert someone within the same property as the user.

In these circumstances, we have two pager solutions available that can be an ideal alternative:

  • advanced pager - compatible with any of the standard alarm sensors listed above (for more complex local alerting)
  • basic pager - designed to work with its own easy to use range of sensors e.g. personal trigger, bed/chair sensors, door sensors, fall detectors
