Eyemouth Primary School – relocation

Background

In 2024 we undertook a feasibility study to develop proposals to replace the existing Eyemouth Primary School building and relocate it within Eyemouth High School.

The outcome of this study identified that an internal refurbishment of a proportion of the existing high school building can accommodate a new self-contained two-stream primary school with its own separate entrance.

This proposal would also see the construction of a new STEM and innovation building, enhancing facilities for secondary school pupils and ensuring that occupancy and utilisation of the existing building can be fully optimised whilst supporting a smoother transition from primary to secondary school.

As part of the project a separate new build early years and family centre would also be developed at the current primary school site on Coldingham Road - adjacent to the new destination play park and skate park which is planned for delivery during 2025/26 – helping to significantly enhance the educational facilities available within Eyemouth.

Consultation

A statutory consultation outlining the proposals to relocate Eyemouth Primary School and create a brand-new dedicated early learning and family centre is now open.

The Consultation, available to view here, provides the opportunity for the community to view and read the proposal report in more detail and submit feedback.

As part of the consultation, a public meeting will be held on Wednesday 12 November at Eyemouth High School from 6pm - 7pm along with a series of other public engagement events over the course of the consultation period.

The consultation will remain open until Monday 8 December.
