How we will use your information

We will use your personal information in order to provide Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) by way of the public bus network. We may also use this information to contact you with regard to any changes which may occur regarding your booking of the DRT.

We will only collect your personal information we need to perform our functions. We will collect your name and contact details (email address and phone number).

We will also need to collect:

  • date and time of requested journey
  • your boarding location for any requested journey
  • your destination location for any requested journey
  • the number of passengers in your party (other adults, children, concessionary passengers)
  • any requirement for wheelchair or mobility access

The phone/email booking system does not allow for payment over the phone, instead each vehicle will remain fitted with a traditional Ticketer machine which will allow for cash payments and the processing of concessionary cards.

Your journey information will be recorded to monitor customer travel patterns, help to plan and resource future journeys on the DRT network and to make service efficiency gains where possible.

We provide the service as part of our statutory function as your local authority, processing personal information is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest.

Who we may share your information with

Your information will be accessed by our staff who need to do so in order to provide the service described above.

We will share your data with MoovIt App Global Ltd, operators of the MoovIt public transport demand responsive software.

Your information may also be shared and analysed internally in order to provide management information, inform service delivery reform and similar purposes to meet our duty to achieve best value and continuous service improvement. 

In general we do not transfer personal data outside either the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA) and on the rare occasions when we do so we will inform you. We will only transfer data outside the UK and the EEA when it is satisfied that the party which will handle the data and the country it is processing it in will provide adequate safeguards for personal privacy. 

How long we keep your information for

If you have asked us to provide a service then we may keep your data for up to a year.

After this period data may be kept anonymised for the purpose of monitoring the effectiveness of the Demand Responsive Service which the information has been provided for.

Decision making

We do not use profiling or automated decision making processes. Some processes are semi-automated (such as anti-fraud data matching) but a human decision maker will always be involved before any decision is reached in relation to you.

Third Party Information

If you have provided anyone else's details to us, please make sure that you have told them that you have given their information to us. We will only use this information as part of the DRT booking service, you should contact them in connection with delivery of any such services. Your rights

You have the right to request access to any personal data held about you by us. You can also request that we restrict the use of your information or even object to any further processing. You can do this by contacting the Data Protection Officer by using the contact details above or by emailing dataprotection@scotborders.gov.uk. We will respond to your request within 30 calendar days.

How to raise a complaint
