Affordable Warmth and Energy Efficiency

Support

COVID-19 response

Following Scottish Government guidelines, we and the appointed contractors will be safely restarting the Energy Efficiency projects from April 26 2021 for properties where internal access is required. External works remain ongoing following safe working and social distancing guidelines. Localised scheme promotion and technical surveys can also be carried out with contactors following the guidelines on covid safety and social distancing.

To make the return to site as safe as possible, our partners have been working closely with The Scottish Government, adopting the guidance on social distancing and hygiene measures to ensure that everyone stays safe and continue to benefit from free or subsidised energy efficiency improvements.

Following a referral, the contractor will contact you to discuss the work at your home and assess your situation. For everyone’s safety, no visit will be made to a property if any resident is symptomatic or has tested positive for COVID-19. If you are particularly vulnerable, only emergency or essential works will take place. This will also give you the chance to ask any questions or let them know of any requirements to allow works to go ahead.

We are still accepting registrations of interest for these projects. You can register your interest by calling Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282 or using the online form.

Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland

These Scottish Government schemes support the uptake of home energy efficiency measures for those that have difficulty paying their fuel bills and keeping their home warm. They help to tackle fuel poverty and increase the uptake of home energy efficiency measures.

Area Based Schemes

Using funding awarded by the Scottish Government, we are able to offer grant funding for eligible private homeowners in areas with high fuel poverty. The measures available typically include external and internal wall insulation and hard to treat properties. The Scheme also allows us to lever in additional funding from energy companies via the Energy Company Obligation (ECO).

Priority areas for the year 2020-21 are targeting the following:

  • external wall insulation
  • internal wall insulation
  • hard to treat cavities
  • air source heat pumps
  • PV (photovoltaic panels) and battery storage

To find out if you may be eligible, contact Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282.

To hear about two Scottish Borders residents experiences of this scheme you can read our internal wall insulation and external wall insulation case studies.

Warmer Homes Scheme

The Warmer Homes Scheme provides insulation, efficient heating and renewable technologies in the homes of households who are struggling with the cost of high energy bills. The Scottish Government offers this support to homeowners and private sector landlords who have lived in their home for more than 12 months and who meet the eligibility criteria.

Home Energy Scotland Loan Scheme

Scottish Government provides an interest free loan for up to £38.5k to help make energy and money saving improvements for homeowners and private sector landlords. The loan can be used for measures such as wall insulation, double glazing, boiler upgrades and other renewable technologies.
