Booking a household kerbside uplift
June 2025 update
We are experiencing service-wide disruption across all of our waste and recycling collections, following a health & safety incident involving a member of our staff. We are currently prioritising the collection of domestic general and recycling waste. Unfortunately, we are unable to take any further bulky uplift bookings until July.
We will do our best to honour any bulky uplifts already booked. We ask for your patience while we work hard to resolve this matter. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience these disruptions may cause.
Waste upholstered domestic seating
From 26 May 2025, we are changing the way we carry out our bulky kerbside uplifts. Due to SEPA guidance we must ensure that upholstered seating is kept separate from other waste types.
We will offer two types of bulky uplifts:
- Uplifts of upholstered seating items e.g. sofas
- Uplifts of non-upholstered seating items e.g. washing machine, other white goods, bed frames
The form can be used to book both types of uplifts but please be aware that the collections will be done separately on different dates.
Before booking please:
- View the list of items we don’t collect through kerbside uplifts on our webpages
- consider whether the items could be donated to charity for someone else to use
You must ensure that any upholstered domestic seating that has incurred damage, been torn or broken is covered to prevent the release of fibres. e.g. a tear can be covered using tape, broken cushion can be placed within a sealed bag. Staff will have the authority to refuse your items if they do not meet these guidelines.
Any other soft items such as mattresses should be wrapped in a waterproof covering.
To book you can:
- complete our online bulky uplift booking form
- contact our Customer Advice and Support Service.
Cost
The cost of a bulky uplift varies depending on what types of items you are disposing of. Please note that if you intend on disposing of both upholstered and non-upholstered items, you will be required to make two separate bookings incurring two charges.
From 26 May, we will offer two types of bulky uplifts:
- Uplifts of upholstered seating items e.g. sofas
- Up to 3 items £43.00
- Up to 4 items £57.00
- Uplifts of non- upholstered seating items e.g. washing machines, bed frames
