SB Cares FAQs

Company

Can’t the proposed changes be made within SB Cares?

The reason for the transfer follows a review of the operation of SB Cares. This showed that while SB Cares had delivered financial and service benefits, it had not reached the full potential originally envisaged. It was considered that the benefits in the arms’ length organisation structure no longer outweighed the challenges and risks facing SB Cares. The changes to the Health and Social Care environment, the review of senior management structures as part of the Fit for 2024 programme, and future financial challenges all mean it is appropriate to bring adult care services back under our direct control.

How are we funding this?

There will be no cost to reintegration. Savings of £190k are anticipated due to the removal of duplicate fees paid by both organisations such as, finance system, audit fees etc.

What challenges do you see with reintegration and working with the Health and Social Care Partnership?

We believe this will be more beneficial. The move will remove artificial barriers and allow further integration with the Health and Social Care Partnership as a direct department.

Will the branding for SB Cares stay?

There are no plans to replace the SB Cares brand. It is likely the brand will remain as a sub-brand of the Council as part of a full Council branding review. We are looking to find the most effective way to keep the SB Cares brand while still reflecting that we are part of the Council again.

What about the Care Inspectorate?

Services will be regulated in the same way as they are now but re-registered as our services.

Will the company listen to quality feedback?

Yes, we definitely want to encourage feedback from all Stakeholders.

What will the Senior Management Team structure be when we move into the council?

The current senior management structure as advised in June 2019 will remain and on transfer will report directly into the Chief Executive as a separate department:

  • Jen Holland - Chief Operating Officer
  • Julie Glen - Operations Director
  • Louise Wilson - Service Manager Homecare
  • Susan Chisholm - Service Manager Care Homes
  • Lisa Samson - Services Manager LD Services
