Pay or appeal a penalty charge notice starting SB1
Online payment instructions
To pay a parking charge notice issued by us for parking in a pay and display car park and for which the reference number starts SB1, follow the payment instructions below:
- Select the link below for the town you received the charge notice for
- Ensure the relevant fine location is selected from the menu on the left hand side of the page if no box is visible to enter your registration plate details
- Enter the full unique payment reference number, ie SB12345678.
- Enter amount to be paid and car registration number
- Click 'Add to list' button. If happy with information select 'Pay' button and this will take you to the payment screen. Please enter details as requested and click the 'Submit' button
- Pay Galashiels parking fines online using the Civica epay website
- Pay Hawick parking fines online using the Civica epay website
- Pay Melrose parking fines online using the Civica epay website
- Pay Peebles parking fines online using the Civica epay website
- Pay Eyemouth parking fines online using the Civica epay website

How much do I have to pay?
You are required to pay the charge of £40 within 21 days, however we offer the discounted amount of £20 if paid within 10 days of issue.
Lost charge notice
Please email roadsafety@scotborders.gov.uk or contact our Customer Advice and Support Service if you have lost your charge notice
Appeal a penalty charge notice
You should appeal within 10 days of receiving your penalty charge notice. Please include your vehicle registration number, the penalty charge notice number, the reason for the appeal and any photographic evidence. You will receive a response within 10 working days.
Do not pay if you are appealing your charge notice, the charge notice will be placed on hold until a decision is reached.

Paying fines issued by Police Scotland and private parking companies
Parking fines issued by police officers for parking on street must be paid to the Scottish Courts service. Follow the instructions on the ticket issued.
Please follow the payment instruction on any parking fines issued by private companies. Any enquires should be directed to the individual private parking company.

Please note that your personal details supplied when paying a fine will be held and/or computerised for the purposes of processing your payment. Some personal details will be disclosed to banks and other financial institutions in order to process the payment. Your personal details will be safeguarded and will not be divulged to any other individuals or organisations for any other purposes.
