Adult Disability Payment (ADP)

New applications for Personal Independent Payment are being replaced with ADP. This is extra money to help you if you have a disability or long-term health condition that affects your every day life. Attendance allowance

If you are over 65 years old and need help with your personal care because you are physically or mentally disabled you may be entitled to this. Your income and savings will not affect any payment of attendance allowance. There is more information available, including how to apply on the Government website.

Blue Badge

If you find it difficult to get around and travel in a car you may be able to get a Blue Badge. This can help you park close to where you need to go either as a driver or passenger. The badge is intended for on-street parking only and costs £20. Carer's allowance

If you are over 16 and care for someone for more than 35 hours per week, you may be able to claim carer's allowance. There are other conditions that you must meet which can be found on the Government website. Claiming carer's allowance can affect other benefits of both the carer and the person being cared for.

Child disability payment

Child disability payment has replaced Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and can be paid until the child is 18 years old. The disability can be mental or physical. Community Care Grant

This will help you cope financially if you have special difficulties and require goods such as furniture and appliances. Cash payments are made in certain circumstances. You can find out more information, including who is eligible and how to apply, on our Community Care Grant page.

Council Tax Reduction

Council Tax Reduction helps people with low incomes to pay their Council Tax. Crisis Grant

A Crisis Grant is a sum of money that can help cover the costs of essentials in times of crisis. You can find out more information, including who is eligible and how to apply, on our Crisis Grant page.

Help paying your rent

Assistance is available through Discretionary Housing Payment, Housing Benefit and Local Housing Allowance. You can find information on eligibility, how to check entitlement and how to apply on our Housing Benefit page. If you receive Universal Credit housing element. You are not eligible for Housing Benefit or Local Housing Allowance.

Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

You can claim industrial injuries disablement benefits (IIDB) if you are ill or disabled because of an accident or disease from work or an employment training scheme or course. You can find out more information, including how to apply on the Government website.

Warm Home Discount

You may be able to get a £150 discount on your electricity bill if you are in receipt of certain benefits as well as meet other criteria. You can find out more information about eligibility and how to apply by contacting your energy provider.
