You may ask us to provide you with a written statement of the reasons for the decision made on any aspect of your claim. Your request can be made by contacting our Customer Advice and Support Service.
Reconsider/appeal our decision
You may ask us to reconsider a decision. This can be done instead of, or before, making a formal request for appeal to an independent tribunal.
Your request must be made in writing, stating the reasons why you disagree with our decision, be signed by you and sent to our Customer Advice and Support Service at the address below within one month of the date of your notice. You can request acceptance of a late reconsideration/appeal within thirteen months of the date of our notice. If this applies please also advise the reasons for delay in your reconsideration/appeal request.
If you do appeal, we will reconsider our original decision before passing your appeal to the Tribunal Service for Housing Benefit.
Reconsideration and appeals for Council Tax Reduction
You may ask us to reconsider a decision. Applications should be made in writing, stating the reasons why you disagree with our decision and be sent to our Customer Advice and Support Service at the address below within two month of the date of your notice.
You may appeal to the First-tier Tribunal where we have notified you of our review decision and you remain dissatisfied or, if we have not responded to your review request within two months. Appeals should be made to the First-tier Tribunal at the address below with 42 days of our review decision or within 42 days from the expiry of the two months period if we have not responded.
