Delivering events sustainably
Reduce, reuse and recycle supports the Scotland-wide circular economy ambition and helps create cleaner, more sustainable events. Planning ahead will greatly improve the environmental impact of your event.
Key actions could include:
- using reusable cups, plates and decorations instead of single use items
- providing clearly labelled recycling and food waste bins
- encouraging attendees to walk, cycle or use public transport when possible
- considering shuttle buses to reduce car usage or where local parking options are limited
- choosing local food suppliers to reduce food miles
- donating any surplus food
- reusing event materials for future community activities
- reducing printed materials where possible by using digital promotion or QR codes to additional online information

Toilets
Providing an adequate number of toilet facilities for those attending events or activity is the responsibility of the event organisers. There will be an increased demand during this time for portable toilets, so booking well in advance is recommended. There are local and national companies that provide this service.
