Potential activities to consider
You may know that local roads are going to be closed due to the race and so you might want to take advantage of extra people in your community needing to eat, drink and be entertained.
You may want to host a street party, decorating with appropriate bunting, have a bike decorating competition, fancy dress, village or town bike inspired treasure hunt, Tour de France themed walks or bike rides around the community on the run up to the events.
You may wish to create a land art display which can be captured by the helicopters and beamed to a global audience. This could be done with flowers, flags, people, vehicles, bikes or recycled objects.
Visitor welcome activities
Think about how visitors to the community could be welcomed:
- Information points.

- Local maps and guides.
Food and drink experiences
Provide food and drink facilities whilst benefiting the community or local businesses:
- Farmers' markets.
- Local produce showcases.
- Community cafés.
- Picnic areas.
Cycling and active travel events
Encourage residents and visitors to get on their bikes:
- Family bike rides.
- Bike decorating competitions.
- Cycling skills activities.
- Walking and cycling challenges.
Creative and cultural activities
Get creative and maybe even get your community added media attention:
- Window dressing competitions.
- Floral displays.
- Community art projects.
- School and youth projects.
