Get involved in your local community

Area Partnerships are an opportunity for Borders residents to participate in an informal discussion and debate about the challenges and opportunities they see affecting their area.

They bring together key organisations, groups, businesses and individuals from across the public, private and third sectors and from within local communities to collectively work together.

Meetings are held five times a year in each locality. They are open to all members of the public and are attended by local councillors and community councillors. During COVID-19 they are being provided online through Teams.

For more information about each Area Partnership, including a copy of the agenda for forthcoming meetings and how to access the Teams link, see below:

Councillor Robin Tatler, Executive Member for Community Development and Localities

“Area Partnerships provide a way for people to become involved in the decision making process at a local level. You can find out more about issues affecting your locality and in turn, give us your views about how we and our Community Planning partners can provide better services in your area.

“On the agenda for forthcoming meetings will be an update on applications received for each Partnership’s Community Fund as well as our Build Back a Better Borders Recovery Fund, established as part of the response and recovery efforts relating to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Updates from the local community are also welcome as are topics you would like included in future discussions.

“The feedback we have had from participants over the past year is that accessing the meetings via Teams is a convenient way of taking part and people have appreciated being able to do so from the comfort of their own homes.

“We would therefore encourage as many people as possible to attend their next local meeting as they really are a way for you to have your say and influence what happens in your community.”
