Area partnerships

Local area partnerships are an opportunity for you to participate in an informal discussion and debate about the challenges and opportunities you see affecting your area.

Area partnerships look to bring together key organisations, groups, businesses and individuals from across the public, private and third sectors and from within our local communities to collectively work together.

There are five locally based area partnerships in the Scottish Borders. Select an area for information about its population demographics and the latest decisions from recent area partnership meetings.

Who can attend

The meetings are open to all members of the public. Local Councillors and Community Councillors will be in attendance.

Further information

See our area partnerships information pack for pointers to information from ourselves and other public bodies about the parts of the Community Empowerment Act and what they mean for communities.

We commissioned the Scottish Comunity Development Centre (SCDC) in 2019 to carry out an independent review of area partnerships and the Community Fund. Nearly 200 people took part in the review and, following nine weeks of public engagement, SCDC produced 41 recomendations for us to consider as part of their wider report. Each Area Partnership is now considering how the meetings and the Community Fund will operate in 2021-22.
