Parental Employability and Intensive Family Support (PES)

The PES service provides support and advice to parents and carers to help make positive changes in their lives through learning, training, employment, education or volunteering. We also:

  • aim to help increase household income
  • work in partnership with other services and organisations to ensure that parents have access to a wide range of opportunities

Who can we help?

  • lone parents
  • families with a parent or a child with a disability
  • parents with three or more children
  • parents from a minority ethnic background
  • parents with a child under one
  • parents under 25
  • parents in their 30’s with barriers to employment

What we can offer

  • a free and confidential service
  • initial welcome telephone discussion
  • minimum three hours weekly support with a key worker including outreach if necessary
  • 1:1 tuition or small group work
  • tailored support to suit individual needs
  • help with job applications, CV’s, interview preparation and employability skills
  • support to access other organisations within the Borders
  • regular contact with key worker to help achieve personalised goals
  • intensive family support for families facing multiple barriers to employment
  • support to access training opportunities with organisations like Borders College
