DFN Project SEARCH
DFN Project SEARCH is an employability program partnership between us, NHS Borders and Borders College. It offers real-life work experience to young people aged 16-29 with additional needs.
The project follows the academic year and provides opportunities for individuals (referred to as Interns) to gain employability skills and qualifications.
- Interns participate in three rotations within Borders General Hospital, Scottish Borders Council, Borders College or local businesses. These rotations provide supervised work experience.
- Interns receive support from an Employment Support worker and a tutor from Borders College.
- Interns work toward a nationally recognised employability qualification.
Internship programme 2025-26
Applications are currently open for the Project SEARCH internship programme due to run from 25 August 2025 to 12 June 2026. Students will work four days a week on rotation and experience three different rotations throughout the course. There will also be some classroom learning activities one day per week at Borders College.
