An in-person public consultation session has been arranged in November allowing members of the community to learn more about the proposals for the relocation of Eyemouth Primary School.
Members of the public encouraged to take part in 12th November sessions
A drop-in stye meeting is being held in the afternoon of Wednesday 12 November at Eyemouth Community Centre between 2pm-5pm.
Members of the public will be able to view display boards detailing the planned relocation in more depth whilst also getting the opportunity to ask our staff and the project team any questions. Attendees will also be able to formally submit any feedback they have on the relocation proposal.
Focus on educational benefits
Later that evening, as part of the statutory education consultation for the project, a separate session will focus on the anticipated educational benefits the relocation could provide.
This will take place from 6pm-7pm at Eyemouth High School and will allow attendees to hear directly from the Director of Education & Children’s services.
Statutory consultation still open
The statutory consultation for the project commenced at the start of October and outlined the proposals for the project which include the relocation of Eyemouth Primary School as well as the creation of a brand-new dedicated early learning and family centre.
The proposals would see the existing primary school relocated and incorporated into Eyemouth High School with alterations made to the current layout to accommodate both schools on the same site.
A new building would be added to the High School to create extra space and provide a new STEM and innovation building, enhancing facilities for secondary school pupils.
The relocated primary school would have its own separate access and its own front door, and therefore its own identity on the site, whilst also benefiting from sharing educational resources and facilities with the High School.
A separate new build early years and family centre would also be developed at the current primary school site on Coldingham Road - adjacent to the new destination play park and skate park which is planned for delivery during 2025/26.

Councillor Julie Prione, Executive Member for Education, Youth Development and Lifelong Learning
“The relocation of Eyemouth Primary School into a campus style development at the existing High School has the potential to make an extremely positive impact on the future of the young people in Eyemouth.
“Every child deserves the best possible modern educational facilities to grow and develop their aspirations. I believe these proposals will do so, but it is important that we hear from every voice in the community and from children and parents during this engagement period on these proposals.”
