Funding is available to support community projects in coastal areas in the Scottish Borders. Cockburnspath, Cove, Coldingham, St Abbs, Eyemouth and Burnmouth are all eligible to apply for funds.

The Scottish Crown Estate Coastal Communities Fund 2025-2026 has approximately £130k available to allocate to projects in the 2025-2026 financial year. Projects looking to be considered for funding should adopt a place-based approach and contribute to at least one of the following objectives:

  • Delivering economic benefit - boosting jobs, supporting businesses or skills development
  • Contributing to town and neighbourhood regeneration
  • Delivering community benefit, including improved assets or services
  • Delivering improvements to the environment

Both capital and revenue funding is available, examples of capital expenditure include:

  • Major repair works or improvements
  • Site acquisition
  • Purchase of equipment

Examples of revenue expenditure include:

  • Staffing
  • Funding a programme of activities
  • Undertaking a feasibility study

There is a minimum funding request of £5k. To qualify for funding, projects must be led by a constituted group and be ready to begin immediately. Projects will be scored on deliverability, value for money, strategic fit and level of community support

Community groups with developed projects which deliver against the objectives outlined are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) as part of the external funding process.

The Expression of Interest form can be downloaded from ourl website.  The deadline for submitting Expressions of Interest is Friday 29 August 2025.
