A new £250,000 fund for communities and organisations has just been launched by the Scottish Borders Local Action Group (LAG).
The LAG funding group is made up of local people and local organisations from the private, public and third sectors and has funding from the Scottish Government available again this year for its Community Led Local Development Fund (CLLD).
Last year’s fund supported 21 projects across the Borders and the LAG is looking to offer more funding this year.
Priority themes
The fund is looking to support projects which alleviate poverty, particularly for children and families, increase social inclusion or support organisations who are delivering Net Zero activities. All constituted community organisations can apply for grants of up to £20,000.
Projects must be completed by the end of February 2024.
Projects are sought that are mostly revenue based, rather than capital. Activities the fund could pay for include staff time, training and skills opportunities, feasibility studies, organisational development and similar. Some funding is available for the purchase of relevant equipment or goods.
Chair of the LAG, Hans Waltl
“Last year, the LAG funded many great projects from Eyemouth to Tweedsmuir and from West Linton to Hawick. We look forward to being able to fund more projects from across the Borders this year.
“We’re looking to support community organisations that are tackling the cost of living and climate crises, as well as projects seeking to work with the least heard and represented in the Borders.”
Submit an Expression of Interest Form
The LAG is working in partnership with ourselves to deliver the new grant and will be using our new expression of interest form.
If you believe you have a suitable project please fill in the form, available online at www.scotborders.gov.uk/projectfunding and it will be directed to the LAG if it fits with CLLD funding. If not suitable for CLLD, your form will be directed to another relevant funder.
