What will happen to our buildings?
- much of our estate is very old and is no longer fit for purpose so we need to reduce it
- we need to make better use of buildings in a joined up way across our own services as well as with partners etc.
- an example is the Jedburgh Campus which will be a community hub along with a school
- we held a public event in Jedburgh and invited suggestions from residents on how they might make best use of other public properties in Jedburgh
- we gave a commitment to the community in Jedburgh to work with them on the sites we will no longer be using such as the current school
- other similar events are due to take place in Earlston, Eyemouth and Galashiels over the next couple of months
Will Depots be closing?
- no decisions have been made on depot locations
- we are looking across the whole estate and all buildings are up for review
- any proposals involving depots will be subject to consultation with Staff and Trades Unions
