Our statement of provision
The Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 came into force in August 2022. This means that all local authorities must make sure period products are available free of charge for anyone who needs to use them.
Under the Act we are required to:
- ensure period products are available free of charge and reasonably easy to obtain
- provide a reasonable choice of different products
- ensure the products are provided in a way that respects the dignity of those obtaining them
We are also required to write, having consulted with individuals, groups and organisations, a Statement of Provision describing how we plan to comply with the act.
