Earlston road closure and parking information for residents and businesses
Town centre road closures in Earlston are required to prepare for the event, including installing race infrastructure, and to allow the race to take place safely. These start to come into effect in the early hours of Sunday 6 September and will remain in place until all event infrastructure is removed, likely in the early evening.
Associated parking restrictions will also be required. Some of these will come into effect on the Saturday evening.
Advance signage and cones will be in place where restrictions apply. Please note, vehicles breaching the restrictions will be uplifted to prevent safety issues and/or disruption to the event.
The main race route outwith Earlston will operate under a rolling road closure.
Event infrastructure in Earlston includes:
- Start/finish gantry on the High Street near the junction of South Croft Park
- Barriers from 500m prior to the start/finish line to the junction of the High Street and Station Road and then along Station Road to the end of the 30mph limit
- Podium area and associated facilities in the bus station and car park area
- Tour village, entertainment and activities on the High Street from the junction of Station Road towards the A68, outside Earlston Pharmacy and outside the White Swan.
Road closures
The following closures will be in effect from 4am to 6pm on Sunday 6 September:
- A6105 from The Square to Georgefield Road
- The Green
The following road closures will be in effect from 8am to 6pm on Sunday 6 September:
- A6105 from Georgefield Road to the junction with the B6397
- A6105 High Street from the A68 to The Square
- Station Road from the High Street to Industrial Estate
- Kidgate
- Arnot Place
The following road closure will be in effect between 8am and 11.30am and between 1pm and 4pm on Sunday 6 September:
- Station Road, from the Industrial Estate to Halcombe Crescent
Parking restrictions
Parking will be prohibited on the following roads and in following car parks from 6pm on Saturday 5 September to 6pm on Sunday 6 September:
- A6105 High Street from the A68 to its junction with the B6397
- Station Road, from the High Street to Halcombe Crescent
- Station Road Car Park and Bus Station
- White Swan Hotel Car Park
- The Green
- The Square Car Park
- Horsemarket, from Georgefield Road south westwards for 150m
- Mill Road, from A68 to Leader Water bridge
- Haughhead Road, from Mill Road to rear access to Earlston RFC (south/west side only)
- A68 from 30mph signs at north side of town to 30mph signs to the south
- A68 southbound layby 200m south of the 30mph signage
Residents who need to move their vehicles due to the parking restrictions can make use of dedicated alternative resident parking on the Council land at The Haugh/Mill Meadow or park within unrestricted areas of the town.
Spectator parking
We are liaising with various local groups and landowners regarding the provision of spectator parking nearby, with arrangements to be finalised.
The aim is to provide sufficient spectator parking across various sites to help minimise the impact of the event on residential parking in the town.
Event signage will be in place directing visitors to dedicated event parking areas and discouraging spectator vehicle movement and parking in residential areas.
Marshals will be in place to support these arrangements.
Deliveries
Due to the road closures in place within the town, deliveries to residents and businesses may be disrupted. Please reschedule any deliveries currently booked for Sunday 6 September and avoid arranging new deliveries for this date.
