Truancy

Persistent poor attendance and poor punctuality are disruptive to the learning of the individual concerned and to the work of the class.

Alerting parents to unauthorised absence

An automated call system, Groupcall, is installed in all schools as part of a programme to help to keep children safe. The system sends a message (by text or email) to alert a parent of any unexpected, unauthorised absence. This means truancy can be identified at the start of a school day and action taken.

Managing absence

There is a process in place in all schools for establishing an absence and managing authorised and unauthorised absences.

Early intervention

We promote principles of Early Intervention, to ensure the appropriate support is sought before a situation escalates.
