Windfarm and turbine screening and scoping opinions

Before a planning application is submitted for a larger windfarm developments, the developer will normally ask for our screening and/or a scoping opinion.

A screening opinion will normally be in response to the question of whether an Environmental Impact Assessment  (EIA) is required to accompany a planning application, while a scoping opinion will normally be about what that assessment should include.

We record the location of all sites subject to screening and scoping opinions for wind energy development in the Scottish Borders on an online PDF map.

Note:  Once an application for planning permission has been lodged, the proposal will be removed from this list and will then appear on the windfarm database.
