Commercial access to recycling centres

A commercial permit scheme has been introduced to enable businesses registered in the Scottish Borders to access six of our community recycling centres (CRCs).

Please note that permits are currently not accepted at Selkirk community recycling centre.

For large quantities of garden waste weighbridge facilities are available at Peebles (Eshiels) and Hawick waste transfer stations.

For large quantities of waste to landfill weighbridge facilities are available at Peebles (Eshiels) and Hawick waste transfer stations and Easter Langlee landfill site.

We also offer a kerbside collection service for commercial waste.

Recycling permit

A recycling permit allows disposal of:

  • paper, cardboard, cans and plastics in line with current kerbside collection service
  • scrap metal
  • wood

Cost: £350.00 per annum

Green, construction and recycling permit

A green, construction and recycling permit allows disposal of:

  • green waste
  • rubble
  • soil and stones
  • waste for landfill
  • maximum of four SBC hessian bags (each bag holds approximately 30 litres) or equivalent volume per visit for the above combined materials
  • paper, cardboard, cans and plastics in line with current kerbside collection service
  • scrap metal
  • wood

Cost: £901.00 per annum

Permit access to recycling centres

Permit access is permitted at participating community recycling centres:

  • Monday to Friday: 9am - 4.30pm
  • Saturday: 9am - 1.30pm

Please note that:

  • One permit is required per vehicle.
  • Permits must be displayed on the vehicle windscreen at all times while visiting sites.
  • Permits are valid for a period of one year from the date of issue.
  • Access will only be permitted once per day at participating community recycling centres.
  • Saturday hours are being introduced on a trial basis only.
