We are supporting this year’s Challenge Poverty Week which runs from 5-11 October.
Rising costs continue to bring additional challenges and people may find themselves facing hardship for the first time as a result.
Residents are reminded that support is available from a wide range of organisations. We are urging family members, friends and neighbours to support individuals and families experiencing financial hardship to check their eligibility and find out what financial assistance they may be entitled to.
Support
Following the launch of the Family Support Directory in 2025, the resource provides an overview of local and national support services available to families and offers a valuable source of information for parents and carers.
The directory is designed to make it easier to find relevant information quickly, with services organised by age group and type of support available.
Councillor Robin Tatler, Executive Member for Communities and Equalities
“It is vital that we continue to support Challenge Poverty Week and raise awareness of the help and support available to people across our communities.
“The resources available on the Council’s website provide valuable information, and there is excellent work being undertaken to combat the effects of poverty on individuals and families in our local communities.
“I would encourage anyone experiencing financial hardship to explore the information and resources available and get in touch to find out how the Council and our many partner organisations may be able to help.
“Taking that first step can make a real difference, helping people understand what support they may be eligible for and ensuring they can access the help they need.”
