Councillor Jenny Linehan, Executive Member for environment, Sustainability and Transport
“We’re delighted to partner with The FNY Collective and Missadventures for what promises to be a fantastic community event in Hawick.
“By creating fun and welcoming spaces for women and girls of all ages and abilities, we hope to inspire more people to feel confident, connected and curious about what’s possible on a bicycle.”
More than 100 women and girls are expected to attend, with a packed programme of activities designed to encourage people to try something new in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Activities will include
Spooky Skills: Have a go at indoor ramps, balance features and bike skills with bikes provided or bring your own.
Crafts and Glow-Ups: Get creative with bike-themed art, Halloween decorations and bike face painting
Dr Bike: Bring along a bike that's been gathering dust for a tune-up and some expert attention
Tea Time: Take a break with friends and enjoy free pizza, custom cupcakes and bike bingo, with prizes up for grabs
Aneela McKenna, Founder of The FNY Collective
“This night isn't about how fast or far you can ride - it’s about curiosity, connection and having a brilliant time together under one roof.
“We’re transforming the Old Baths into a welcoming, festive hub where women and girls can try new things, unleash some creativity, fix stuff, or just come for the pizza and good vibes. You don't need experience, and you definitely don't need your own kit. Just bring yourself.”
The event is free, and bikes, helmets, craft materials and food will be provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own bike if they prefer.
The Spooktacular Bike Bash takes place at The Old Baths, Hawick, from 3pm to 6pm on Saturday 24 October 2026.
