We're delighted to confirm that, following a recent public open call exercise, the new Tweedbank care development will be known as Three Hills Care Village.
The three buildings that make up the setting will be named Willow House, Oak House and Sycamore House, respectively.
Earlier this summer, residents, families, staff and members of the wider community were invited to suggest names for the new care village and its three buildings. The development, which will replace Garden View and Waverley care homes, is expected to open in late 2027 and will provide modern, high-quality accommodation in a welcoming community setting.
A high number of suggestions were received
The naming exercise attracted an excellent response, with 118 submissions generating 93 unique suggestions for the development. Many of the ideas drew inspiration from the surrounding landscape and local heritage.
All submissions were reviewed by a shortlisting panel, which considered each suggestion against criteria including its connection to place, community identity and wellbeing.
The panel then selected a shortlist of options for residents, families and staff at Garden View and Waverley care homes to vote on.
Three Hills was the preferred option
Three Hills Care Village emerged as the preferred name for the overall development.
For the three buildings, Willow House, Oak House and Sycamore House received the highest number of votes, reflecting the natural surroundings and creating a distinctive identity for each part of the village.

“Importantly, residents, families and staff had the final say in choosing the winning names, ensuring the result reflects the views of those who will have the closest connection to the care village.”

The Tweedbank development forms part of our commitment to providing high-quality, modern care accommodation that supports dignity, wellbeing and independence.
The chosen names will now be incorporated into future plans, communications and signage as work continues on the development ahead of its planned opening in 2027.
