Bus users across the Scottish Borders will begin to see more real-time passenger information displays rolled out across the region.

The 27 new sustainable real-time bus departure screens are funded from the Scottish Government Bus Infrastructure Funding, and through our framework agreement with supplier Journeo.

What to expect

With an investment totalling £270,000, the solar-powered displays will show the next four departures from each stop and, using data transmitted from bus ticket machines, will provide a real-time countdown showing when buses are due to arrive.

The new screens will complement the existing network of 45 digital bus stop displays and 26 other real-time information displays already installed across the Borders.

Councillor Jenny Linehan, Executive Member for Environment, Sustainability and Transport

“This investment in a further 27 real-time passenger information displays is another positive step in us improving the public transport experience for travellers.

“With these screens becoming increasingly popular within both the bus and rail industries it is fantastic that we can offer improved passenger confidence and an enhanced travel experience throughout our region.”

During preparatory works passengers may notice bus stop flags and poles being removed from some bus stops, however any affected bus stops will remain in use throughout the works.
