Haughhead Bridge in Innerleithen has reopened following the completion of essential repairs to the structure.
Funding
We secured funding from the UK Government Community Regeneration Partnership and Walk Wheel Cycle Trust to replace the bridge decking and reinforce the bridge, allowing it to be used by horses and riders again.
Following strong community interest in seeing the bridge reopened, it has been brought back into use as soon as it was safe to do so. While the bridge is fully operational for walking, wheeling, cycling and horse riding, a small number of elements of finishing works will continue over the coming week.

Occasional temporary restrictions will remain in place, with efforts continuing to be made to keep any disruption to a minimum.
As before, there is no vehicular access. These works have ensured the long-lasting use of the bridge for all active travel users
