Eyemouth Primary School engagement continues as third round of focus group meetings take place

Published: 26th March 2026

Since early February, small focus groups have met to share their views and priorities, as a new phase of engagement to help shape the future of Eyemouth Primary school continues.

Sessions up to now have covered what people value about the current school, and what matters most for a future learning environment in Eyemouth.

Feedback from the first two sessions. which has now been reviewed has helped to directly inform the development of potential ways forward for the school.

Across the groups, which were made up of parents, pupils, staff, local organisations and education representatives, there has been a good degree of consistency.  With strong support for the school's central location, it's connection to the town, access to outdoor space and community facitlities, and the importance of preserving a strong primary school identity in Eyemouth.

The next step is to use the evidence from both rounds of focus group engagement to refine the emerging preferred direction, continue testing deliverability, affordability, and programme implications, and prepare the next report back to council.

Following the third round of engagement this week, officers will begin work on a report that will be considered at Council in May.  The report will explain the engagement approach taken and highlight what has emerged through this, ensuring that the community can see how its feedback has influenced the direction of travel.
