A public engagement session is being held to share plans for the proposed refurbishment of Deanfield Care Home in Hawick.

The drop in event will take place at Deanfield on Friday 27 February, 4–6pm, giving residents, families and the wider community the opportunity to view the proposed designs, learn more about the improvements planned, and speak directly with the project team.

Attendees will be able to review the refurbishment proposals, ask questions, share any thoughts or suggestions, and find out more about the project timeline and the expected benefits for residents and the community.

Members of the project team will be on hand throughout to provide updates and answer queries.

There is no need to book for the session, but if anyone has any queries or would like to provide feedback via email, please contact: ResidentialCareProgramme@scotborders.gov.uk

Works due to begin in autumn

Approval to proceed with the refurbishment programme was given at the January Council meeting, with initial works scheduled to begin in the autumn. The project will deliver a modern, fully compliant 20 bed care facility supporting enhanced residential, nursing and respite care.

Plans include larger en suite bedrooms, improved internal circulation, and upgraded outdoor spaces designed to better support people with higher levels of need, including those living with dementia.

Councillor David Parker, Executive Member for Health and Wellbeing and Chair of the Integration Joint Board

“We’re delighted to be taking the next steps in our plans to transform Deanfield. The improvements we’re proposing will bring huge benefits for residents and ensure the home continues to offer the very best care and support.

“This engagement session is the first of many that will take place throughout the project as part of our commitment to making sure residents, families and the wider community feel fully involved in the journey. I’d encourage anyone with an interest in Deanfield to come along, explore the proposals and share their thoughts with the team as we take this important project forward.”
