Plans for a new £4 million McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant in Hawick has been welcomed, if approved, would mark a significant step forward in the town’s ongoing regeneration and economic development.
Opportunities
Located alongside Sainsbury’s and Aldi, the proposed restaurant will increase choice and convenience for shoppers, while supporting local employment and investment. The project follows the completion of the Hawick Flood Protection Scheme, unlocking new opportunities for land use and business growth in the area. The new restaurant has the potential to create up to 100 part-time and full-time jobs.
Councillor Scott Hamilton, Executive Member for Economic Growth & Developing the Borders.
“The proposed McDonald’s development on Commercial Road is a prime example of how we can unlock new land for business growth, with the potential to create valuable local jobs, and enhance the services available to residents and visitors.
