Scottish Borders were delighted to welcome The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland on Friday 15 December for a fundraising Christmas concert, in the Tait Hall.

The one-night-only festive fundraiser was in support of Poppyscotland, the nation’s leading Armed Forces charity. The audience were treated to a selection of family favourites from the movies and classic Christmas tunes.  The performance also included a selection of ceilidh tunes and a performance from the newly formed swing section, all led by director of music, Major Esther Hayes.

Scottish Borders Council Convener, Councillor Watson McAteer

“I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who attended the Christmas concert in support of Poppyscotland, the charity provides vital, life-changing support to current and former members of the Armed Forces community across Scotland. I’m sure your support was greatly received.

“We were treated to a fantastic night of music from the truly exceptional Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, supported by local musician Alan Brydon from Hawick and pipers Cammy Renwick and Steve Domingo.  I hope the Christmas concert returns to the Borders in 2026.”

The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, based at Dreghorn Barracks in Edinburgh, is comprised of musicians from The Royal Corps of Army Music and is one of 14 regular Army Bands in the British Army.
