We have received approval to progress with the sale of the former Jedburgh Library building as part of its estate rationalisation.
Sale of building to be completed by early 2026
The building, which has been vacant since 2019, was brought to the market in April of this year after a 2024 report identified the need for us to reduce our property portfolio footprint by 10% (39,000 sqm).
The sale follows unsuccessful attempts to identify a viable option to transfer the facility to community ownership following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The sale of the building is estimated to be completed in early 2026.
Councillor Simon Mountford, Executive Member for Planning and Community Assets
“I am extremely pleased to see the sale of the former Jedburgh Library building now progressing following approval at the Council’s Executive Committee.
“I am hopeful that the sale of this prominent community building will enable it to be repurposed and an important part of the town’s heritage retained.”
