Scottish Borders venues are being urged to showcase what the region has to offer at the Doors Open Days Festival 2025, taking place over 6-7 September.
The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Heritage and Architecture: Windows to the Past, Doors to the Future’ and venues, companies, building managers and local groups across the region are invited to get involved by hosting an event.
The theme helps celebrate the wide variety of buildings that surround us, from small to grand and old to new, allowing architectural heritage to help us understand our shared history and culture.
About the event
The annual event, which is organised by the Scottish Civic Trust, is Scotland’s largest festival that provides access to some of the most interesting and historically significant buildings in the area whilst celebrating places and stories.
All events are free and take place in person and online.
Councillor Simon Mountford, Executive Member for Planning and Community Assets
“The Doors Open Days Festival presents a unique opportunity for venues and groups across the region to connect with and attract new audiences from around the world.
“The festival celebrates Scotland's places and stories while drawing thousands of visitors each year, both online and in person. It offers a fantastic and unique opportunity for participants to showcase something that is not typically available for free.
“It promises an exciting weekend, and I would encourage anyone thinking about getting involved to do so.”
