School Pupils and children and young people’s organisations across the Scottish Borders celebrated World Children's Day on 20 of November, UNICEF’s global day for children, by children.

World Children's Day marks the anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and serves as a call to action for schools, communities and institutions to engage with and support children.  The theme for 2024 is “Listen to the Future”.

We are a member of a local multi-agency working group within the Children and Young People’s Planning Partnership, which has been developing an action plan to prepare for United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) Incorporation and to embed children’s rights approaches to their work.

Rights Respecting is not just a school approach but an approach the multi–agency partners are committed to embedding to create genuine practice, where children and young people are involved in the decision-making process as we work towards creating a true child-friendly Scottish Borders.
