Community Conversation engagement events continue across local communities in the Scottish Borders with staff from NHS Borders and elected members.
The next Community Conversation events taking place are:
- Tuesday 17 September – Cheviot Area Partnership hosting in Jedburgh Grammar Campus – 6.30pm
- Tuesday 24 September – Tweeddale Community Conversation in Newlands Centre, Romanno Bridge - 6.30pm
- Wednesday 25 September – Eildon Community Conversation in Philiphaugh Community Centre- 6.30pm
- Tuesday 3 October - Berwickshire Community Conversation in Coldstream Community Centre - 6.30pm
The events will be hosted by Council Leader, Councillor Euan Jardine, and chaired by a member of the Scottish Borders Council Management Team. Council officers and a member from NHS Borders Executive Board will also be in attendance.
Councillor Euan Jardine, Council Leader is encouraging people to take the opportunity to share their views:
“We’re over halfway through our Community Conversation events, we’ve listened and spoken with many people covering a range of topics, and we would like the momentum to continue across the remaining four events.
“We’re keen to speak with communities from Cheviot, Tweeddale, Eildon and Berwickshire, these wards contain large towns and small villages, we’re hoping to speak with a good cross-section of Border’s communities, so we understand what’s happening in those areas, and we can provide them with a greater understanding of the Council’s work and focus on its limited resources.”
The events are a key opportunity to engage openly and meaningfully with Borderers and to gather their input on how the Council should focus its resources in their area.
Cllr Jardine continued:
“Please join us at one of the events, you can find information online, just search Scottish Borders Community Conversations.
The sessions open with a short presentation followed by facilitated roundtable discussions. Thereafter open conversations will take place, allowing for more informal discussion. The aim of the events is to provide participants with a better understanding of the Council’s work and its focus on limited resources, allowing members of the community to attend and speak directly with Council Members and staff from the Council and NHS Borders.
To ensure as wide a range of opinions as possible can be gathered, an online event is being planned, as well as events in schools for younger aged Borderers. Details of these events will be communicated on SBC’s website and via social media. Dates and locations of all the Community Conversations can be found at www.scotborders.gov.uk/communityconversations
