We will be out and about in local communities across the Borders with staff from NHS Borders and elected members, hosting Community Conversations over the next three months.
The next Community Conversation events taking place are:
- 20 Aug – 7.00pm Burgh Hall, Peebles
- 22 Aug – 6.30pm Duns Parish Church Hall
- 5 Sept – 6.00pm Galashiels Focus Centre
Each of the events will be hosted by Council Leader, Councillor Euan Jardine, and chaired by a member of our management team. Our officers and a member of the NHS Borders Executive Board will also be in attendance.
David Robertson, Chief Executive
“We’ve had two successful sessions, in Kelso and Hawick, and had some really good conversations covering parking, tourism, community benefits and volunteering to name a few.
“We really do want to hear from people across the Scottish Borders and look forward to seeing them at sessions in the coming weeks.”
The conversations are a key opportunity to engage openly and meaningfully with Borderers and to gather their input on how the Council should focus its limited resources in their communities.”
The session will commence with a short presentation followed by facilitated roundtable discussions. Thereafter freeform or one-to-one conversations will take place, allowing for more informal conversations.
Our intention is that the events will provide participants with a better understanding of our work and focus on limited resources, allowing members of the community to attend in a flexible way and engage directly with Elected Members and staff from NHS Borders and ourselves.
To ensure as wide a range of opinions as possible can be gathered, an online event is being planned, as well as events in schools for the younger aged Borders. Details of the online and school events will be communicated at a later date on our website and via social media.
