Local businesses are being urged to apply to the newly launched Scottish Borders Trusted Trader Scheme

The scheme, which aims to promote good business practices and protect residents from doorstep crime, is backed by Scottish Borders Council and supported by Police Scotland.

Businesses with a minimum of six months clean trading history are eligible to apply, with the first 25 new applicants receiving a 50% discount from the initial cost.

Traders who join will see their business showcased with other vetted businesses across the Scottish Borders and will also have access to official logos and marketing materials to promote the business.

The current cost is £240, but with the time limited promotion for new members, this will be reduced to £120.

In the event traders are unable to meet the vetting requirements, a fully refundable fee will be redeemable.

“This is such a valuable initiative and I’m delighted that we have been able to get involved in its introduction to the Scottish Borders.

“The scheme benefits both traders and customers, providing increased consumer confidence, increasing brand recognition and trust, improving customer engagement and increasing custom.

“I would urge all local businesses to consider becoming a member of the Scottish Borders Trusted Trader Scheme.”

With a 96 per cent membership renewal rate across all Trusted Trader schemes in 2022, the scheme has supported a noticeable increase in credibility amongst its members
