We're flying the Armed Forces Day flag at our headquarters in Newtown St Boswells this week.
About Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day is celebrated annually to commemorate the service of men and women in the Forces. This year it takes place on Saturday 24 June. Find out more on the Armed Forces Day website.
The flag was raised at a ceremony in Newtown on Monday 19 June by two members of 6 SCOTS, a Reserve Infantry Battalion within The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
Also present were a number of veterans' charities currently active in the Borders.
Councillor John Greenwell, Champion for Armed Forces and Veterans
"I am delighted that Scottish Borders Council is once again supporting Armed Forces Day, taking the opportunity to acknowledge the vitally important contribution made by everyone who is part of the military community, from our currently serving troops to the reservists, veterans, cadets and of course the families who support them.
“The support shown by our local communities throughout this week is also appreciated, as we come together in recognising the efforts of all those who work so hard to maintain the safety and security of our nation.
