Consultation seeks feedback on Peebles parking charges

Published: 6th March 2023

Peebles residents, businesses and visitors are being asked to submit their views on the current parking charges in car parks across the town.

Consultation aims to gather together views on parking charges

The consultation will gather together information including parking habits, opinions on the current charging regime and the public’s views on the current use of the Eastgate for buses and taxis.

Later in March surveyors will be present in the Edinburgh Road, Kingsmeadows, Greenside and Hay Lodge car parks asking car park users some questions on their parking habits and opinions.

The data collected will inform any future changes made to the charging regime in the area by the Peebles Parking Group, which consists of Peebles Community Council representatives, local councillors and our staff.

How to submit your feedback

The online consultation can be found here.

The consultation is open to feedback until Friday 31 March 2023.

Next steps

Members of the public will be consulted fully in advance of any proposed future changes to the charging regime.

Any surplus money that is generated from parking charges locally is already used to improve local infrastructure.

Councillor Jenny Linehan, Executive Member for Environment & Transport:

“We are taking the opportunity to consult with local residents and visitors to Peebles around the current parking charges regime in place across the town to determine their parking habits and opinions.

“I would like to encourage as many people as possible to submit feedback on this consultation, particularly if you are a user of the parking areas in Peebles or you own or operate a business in the area.

“Your feedback will help determine any future changes to the parking charges in the area, so it’s vitally important you have your opinion heard.”
