Our headquarters will be raising the Ukraine flag and lighting up the tower to mark the one-year anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine.

As a mark of solidarity and support for all those affected by the ongoing events in Eastern Europe, the tower will be lit up in the colours of the Ukraine flag over the weekend from 24 February.

Councillor Watson McAteer, Council Convener

“On behalf of the people of the Scottish Borders, I would like to pass on all our thoughts and prayers to the people of Ukraine. This must be a particularly difficult time for them with Friday marking the one-year anniversary.

“The actions of Russian forces on their country are deeply disturbing and we add our voice to those calling urgently for peace in the region.

“I would like to thank everyone across the Scottish Borders who has played a part in welcoming people from Ukraine over the past year either as hosts, by supporting community groups or just giving them a warm welcome.”
