Owners of historic buildings within the boundary of the Hawick Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme are invited to a drop-in session on Wednesday 5 October to find out about funding for repairs.
Hawick Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) is a six-year project with an overall budget of just over £1.5m, funded by Historic Environment Scotland, South of Scotland Enterprise and ourselves.
Grants available
The main aim of the scheme is to support the repair of traditional buildings (pre-1919) within a defined area of the town using appropriate traditional methods of construction.
Hawick CARS provides grants to property owners to undertake repairs and restoration to accepted conservation standards. Grants are available in the range of 50%-75% of eligible costs (up to a maximum of £15k of funding), with owners required to provide match funding of the remaining amount.
Drop-in event
The Hawick CARS Project Officer will be available during the community drop-in session between 3pm-6pm in Heart of Hawick to discuss the funding available. Anyone who thinks they may be eligible for a grant is invited to attend for an informal chat.
Project funding
Hawick CARS is funded by Historic Environment Scotland (£1.315m), South of Scotland Enterprise (£60k) and ourselves (£200k).
