Partnership agrees key themes to support region over the next 12 months

Scottish Borders Community Planning Partnership, which is made up of key organisations operating in the Scottish Borders, has agreed four priority themes to support communities over the next year.

The Scottish Borders Community Planning Partnership is made up of a number of strategic partners operating locally, including ourselves, NHS Borders, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire & Rescue, Live Borders, Borders College, South of Scotland Enterprise, all four local housing associations and the third sector.

It is tasked with taking forward community planning in the Scottish Borders, by working with local communities, businesses and community groups to plan and deliver better services and improve the lives of people who live here.

Areas of action identified

The four areas of action agreed upon at the Partnership’s recent meeting were:

  • Enough money to live on
  • Access to work, learning and training
  • Enjoying good health and wellbeing
  • A good place to grow up, live in and enjoy a full life

The workplan to deliver on the priority themes is currently being developed and will be put to the Community Planning Partnership Strategic Board in September for agreement.

Councillor Caroline Cochrane, the new chair of the Scottish Borders Community Planning Partnership

“Across the variety of areas that all the partners work in we are aiming to support our residents and businesses, but by agreeing these four themes and developing an associated workplan, the partnership is really aiming to go above and beyond what we all do individually through our normal business.

“By pulling together and truly working as one, the Community Planning Partnership has incredible opportunities to support the Scottish Borders, especially during such a challenging time as we are experiencing just now.

“The cost of living crisis impacts on everyone, and has knock on implications for our businesses and communities, and it is essential that we all do all we can to help the Borders get through this difficult period.

“I’d urge anyone in need of support to make sure that they access all the help and advice that is available, from our local housing associations, Citizens Advice Scotland, Scottish Borders Council and others. Please do not be afraid to ask for help.”
