After receiving more than 300 consultation responses, steps are being taken to make permanent the conversion of part of Caddonfoot Road to a shared footpath and cycle path
Restricted vehicular access on the route was first introduced at the start of the pandemic as part of a trial of a range of measures across the region to encourage more active travel including walking, cycling and wheeling.
In this location, where there is insufficient space on the verge to provide a pavement from Clovenfords to Caddonfoot, or to the playing field, this has also provided safer access.
The consultation, which elicited 310 responses, showed that 201 respondents supported the remodelling of the road to a shared path. This was also a position supported by local elected members and the community council.
