As a mark of solidarity and support for all those affected by the current events in eastern Europe, our headquarters will be floodlit in the yellow and blue colours of the Ukrainian flag.

The tower at our offices at Newtown St Boswells will be lit up on Friday 25 February.

Councillor David Parker, Convener

“On behalf of the people of the Scottish Borders, I would like to pass on all our thoughts and prayers to the people of Ukraine.

“The actions of Russian forces on their country are deeply disturbing and we add our voice to those calling urgently for peace in the region.”

Offers of support

There have been many offers of support from within our communities and we would like to thank all of those who have been thinking of the Ukrainian people.

At this time, we would ask that donations are made to those local or national charities who are making appeals. This includes the Disasters Emergency Committee who are urgently mobilising their services to enable food, water, shelter, healthcare and protection to be provided for those Ukrainian residents impacted by the conflict. All donations are welcomed and can be made via their website.
