Queen's Platinum Jubilee Fund open for applications

Published: 5th January 2022

We are delighted to launch the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Fund, which is now open to applications

In 2022, Her Majesty, The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, following 70 years on the throne. An extended bank holiday from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June 2022 will give communities throughout the United Kingdom the opportunity to commemorate the event.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund will allow non-profit making community and voluntary groups, along with schools and churches within the Borders whose project or activity is for the benefit of the wider community, to apply for grant funding. Grants are expected to be within the region of £1K, however there is a possibility grants up to a maximum of £2.5K will be awarded for larger projects.

The fund encourages as much creativity as possible for community gatherings, for example concerts, open days or street parties. Alternatively funding can be used to create a lasting legacy by improving public spaces like play parks or gardens, or by planting commemorative trees.

Application forms and guidance can be found on our website.

Councillor Robin Tatler, Executive Member for Community Development and Localities

“The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund is a brilliant initiative to celebrate and reflect on the service of Her Majesty over the last 70 years.”

“This is a great opportunity to harness the community spirit our towns and villages in the Borders are renowned for, following a difficult couple of years dealing with the impact of Coronavirus.

“I urge as many communities and organisations as possible to participate in creating a lasting legacy of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and fill out an application form.”
